Matting

If you own a breed with curly, double, or drop coats, it's likely your dog has experienced matting. Matting commonly occurs when regular grooming is not in place.

At Burleigh Groomers, we assess new dogs for matting upon their arrival.

In cases where your pet is severely matted, our options to assist you are limited. Subjecting your dog to an extended period of de-matting and brushing is unfair and can cause significant stress. In such situations, it's often necessary to shave the coat short. This allows us to start anew and establish a consistent grooming routine, enabling the coat to grow back to your preferred length.

We can gently remove minimal matts from your dog's coat, provided it does not cause them discomfort.

Please be aware that there is an additional charge for matt removal on top of the standard grooming fee.

Should we determine that partial or complete de-matting of your dog's coat is possible, we will apply an extra fee of $15.00 for every 15 minutes of work required, in addition to the regular service charge.

Our skilled team will only proceed with de-matting if your dog exhibits no signs of stress or anxiety.

We will consult with you in person or by phone regarding all treatment options if you are not present at the salon before we begin the grooming process.

Numerous health conditions can be caused by a matted coat, including itchiness, irritation, and skin infections. For the dog's health and comfort, it is vital to resolve this as soon as possible.

Removing a very heavily matted coat may cause your dog to sustain nicks, cuts, or abrasions from warts, moles, and folds hidden inside the mats.

Furthermore, excessive matting can retain moisture against the dog's skin, creating an ideal environment for fungal or bacterial growth, which can cause further irritation.

Burleigh Groomers assumes no responsibility for any preexisting conditions due to a matted coat. Nonetheless, should we notice any unusual conditions, we will inform you accordingly.

Cancellations

Burleigh Groomers recognizes that unexpected events can occur. To accommodate this, we provide email reminders prior to your scheduled appointment and will send a text reminder before your appointment time as well.

Should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, we kindly request at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee of $50.

An unfilled appointment slot represents lost opportunity for another client and income for our salon.

We are grateful for your understanding.

Dog Aggression

Please let us know and ensure transparency if there have been any previous instances of dog aggression during grooming, or if your dog exhibits aggressive behavior towards other dogs.

Through open communication, we can collaborate to devise an effective strategy for desensitizing your dog, when deemed appropriate.

At Burleigh Groomers, our commitment is to maintain our salon as a secure and serene haven for all dogs, our staff, and visitors.

Health Issues

Burleigh Groomers prioritizes the comfort of your furry friends. Kindly inform us of any health-related concerns that should be on our radar. This encompasses previous grooming sensitivities, emotional distress, existing health conditions, and any allergies.

Through open dialogue, we can devise a strategy to ensure your pet's utmost comfort throughout the grooming process.

Should we encounter any issues or conditions while grooming, rest assured that we will communicate this to you upon your pet's collection. In the case of urgent matters, we will contact you immediately.

Fleas

Let's acknowledge that fleas are likely to be found wherever animals live. Despite our affection and diligent care for our pets, flea infestations can occur.

If your dog has fleas or has recently been treated for them, please inform us prior to your appointment. We strongly prefer that your canine has received flea treatment and is flea-free upon arrival, as we maintain a sanitized and clean salon for the safety of all our furry clients.

Should we discover fleas on your pet during grooming, additional charges will apply. These include costs for salon decontamination post-grooming, extended bathing time, additional flea removal efforts, and flea shampoo usage, amounting to a fee of $45.

PLEASE BE ADVISED that a flea bath eliminates only the fleas currently on your pet and does not affect those in your surroundings. Thus, we highly recommend administering further treatment to your dog at home promptly.

To avoid inconvenience and extra cost, please notify us beforehand if your dog is infested so we can reschedule your appointment.
